Literary Titan

Hello, and Happy New Year! Nothing like hitting the ground running with a blog post on the first day of the new year. I have been a slacker for the last year, busy writing Bad Pharma, retiring from my day job and all the emotional shifts that come with retirement, switching from lawyering to writing as a primary career, and trying to live in a world that always seems to be tilting toward extinction. It reminds me of a scene in Anne Rice’s, The Queen of the Damned, where Akasha, the queen, stares into the vast ocean of humanity with unblinking eyes — every terrible thing that has befallen humankind for the last 6,000 years passing before her — leaving her mute with horror and as tormented as the mortals themselves.

Well, this is my push to start things off right. I’ll do so with a lovely book review of Bad Pharma from Literary Titan in which the editors admired the “rich and complex characters”, calling it a “moral inquiry wrapped in an engaging narrative” that they “would highly recommend it to anyone intrigued by the intersection of science, ethics, and corporate drama. Whether you’re a healthcare professional, a corporate worker, or simply a fan of thought-provoking conspiracy thrillers, this book will make you question how much we’re willing to compromise in the name of progress.

Thanks, Literary Titan!

That’s all for today, folks. After all, it is a holiday, and I have just completed one of my most important resolutions.

The happiest of New Years to you. May you be blessed in the most amazing ways.

  1. Oh Pam, I thought I’d start at the beginning of the year to catch up. I see I was at least here to wish you a Happy New Year! I can’t imagine what retirement would be like, I’m still trying to be “successful” lol in this day and age— at almost 45! I want to add your book to my TBR list that is a bit too long already but I hope you understand that my intentions will always bring me back around again. It’s a monumental effort and culmination to write a book like this. I want to read it! Hugs and love!

    Pam,

    The review is terrific.

I would have left a comment there, but WP has been acting funny lately, and rejects my comments on blogs new to me, or Spams them. I’m waiting for that nonsense to clear and get back to normal.

I can’t remember if I mentioned this before, but I have been boycotting amazon for over 10 years. Please let me know if your book sells somewhere else, a site that takes PayPal, like Kobo!

Hi Resa — Thanks so much for your kind words! I believe you can get the book anywhere — Barnes and Noble, etc. — with the ASIN number which is ASIN ‏ : ‎ B0DPSWQMXK — you just have to ask them to order it for you. Thanks for your support! xo

    Congrats on retiring, Pam!

I was more or less forced by circumstance to retire after covid.

It is a transition, but I’m thrilled with all my creative output!

Im heading over to Literary Titan!

Please continue fulfilling this resolution Pam. I know, having retired nine months ago, that time seems to slip through my hands these days as the days go zipping by. How did I get seemingly more things done when I still worked? Still finding my groove I guess. Happy New Year!

Isn’t it weird, Linda? It’s like there is less time or something. Still it’s awesome to make my own schedule. I hope you are also enjoying that.

I am enjoying retirement Pam – in fact I told myself, having had nine months of retirement bliss, it is time to get cracking in the house and declutter all the vestiges of my former life. I will never be wearing those dressy clothes and a lot of other things should go as well. However, I started studying French the end of October … it’s taking up a lot of time daily, much more than I expected, even though I enjoy it. I mistakenly thought I had a little advantage having taken it in college, but that was 46 years ago, the last two years when we only spoke French in the class. I need more memory space in my brain – it’s full to the brim right now from 46 years of clutter (like the house). 🙂

Haha – I so hear you, Linda. I had mistakenly thought the same thing about Spanish, but all those lessons seemed to have retreated to the innermost parts of my brain! Good luck with the learning and the cleaning!

Look at all the info we’ve packed into our gray matter Pam, so I guess we should not be surprised. Thanks, I need a little help as to both!
