While we wait for the men and women of the U.S. Senate, the world’s greatest deliberative body, to decide today whether the 45th POTUS incited an insurrection in our nation’s capitol on January 6, 2021 or, alternatively, to allow domestic terrorism to be our new normal — because isn’t the failure to impeach a vote for the latter?! — I leave you with this photo of eddies, frozen at the edge of the river while the maelstrom just below the surface, momentarily icebound, keeps time with the season — just like us.
And so we wait … .

I learned something today Pam, i.e. the word “eddie” in conjunction with ice (something I’ve seen way too much of lately, along with snow and bitter cold, but I digress). I guess we should have suspected the outcome of the second impeachment trial before it grabbed our attention as we awaited a decision and now we have moved on … once again.

Well eddies usually aren’t in ice which was the cool thing about it I guess because you could see what it was doing a little better, frozen as it was, Linda. 😂😘

It was an interesting picture Pam. All I see in our frozen Creek are shad feeder fish that could not find oxygen in the frozen water and are frozen along the shoreline. Yesterday I did a Wordless Wednesday post about “the Mitten State” and thought of you as you asked me why it was called this name. I found a perfect graphic to show why.

It was never going to happen, was it? I think the Republican Party may have just shot itself in the foot, though.

I agree, Mick. George Will, a long-time conservative who never liked Trump said the same thing in an article last week. Now only the results of that fallout remain to be seen and that could go on for years. Really, if we had more than two parties with no clear majority, warring factions would be forced to work together and that, I think, would be better than getting steamrolled whatever side is in power. We’ll see how it goes. 🤞

A long process, I suspect.

Yes is a (hopefully) answer 😜 as I have said in my latter contribution 😁. The German says: “die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt!” (hope dies last) 😉 a beautiful photo 💖🙏

I’m still hoping despite the chaos, Aladin. Seven senators did vote to impeach and that was more than has crossed the aisle in a long long time.🤞

No witnesses, no surprises. Just more of the same. What do we tell our children and grandchildren? I never thought it would come to this. Shame on us.

Hi Pat! Shame on us is right. We tell them that half the country lost their critical thinking skills, I guess. And we pick up the pieces. 😞

Not a happy outcome, and further depresses us here (UK) to think we still aren’t anywhere near a change – and when we are, will this our country do any better?

Worse is that they planned it this way. Small silver lining? Seven republican senators crossed the line and voted with the dems. There is still hope perhaps fir a bipartisan climate bill, Mari. 🤞

I say “yes” to the question raised, Pam. They have opened Pandora’s Box.

We’ve known for a long time that 80% of congressional Republicans are morally bankrupt. Thus, sadly, Trump is almost guaranteed to be acquitted.

Breaking news, Neil – the senate is now going to call witness! Strange things are afoot indeed! Perhaps 🤔 they are rethinking their positions?!
